K9 Suny helps catch Ohio murder suspect Daymond Hooks
A murder suspect wanted in OH was apprehended Saturday by a Greenville police officer and his K9 partner.
K9 Officer Nathan Lather and his K9 Suny caught the man at Douglas Avenue and Sheppard Street after the man hid behind a house. The man, who matched the suspect's description, ducked behind a house when he saw Lather's police auto. Officer Lather and Suny found the man's handgun lying under a tree.
When he was detained, the suspect gave a false name and birth date, but investigators were later able to identify him as 29-year-old Daymond Hooks of Ohio.
One of the men wanted in connection to a murder at an Akron strip club last month has been arrested in SC.
Hooks was booked in the Pitt County Detention Center for carrying a concealed weapon and resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer. He'll be extradited back to OH on the murder charge. After the fight was broken up, Hooks left the nightclub with friends only to return several minutes later. "They are to be commended for their proactive work", said Greenville Chief of Police, Mark Holtzman. The actions of the detectives in SIU, Officer Lather and K9 Suny most likely prevented further violent crimes from occurring in our community.
