AC/DC Sold More Tickets To Their Live Shows Than Any Other Act In 2015
In the concert business, 2015 was a banner year for 1989, as Taylor Swift and her blockbuster "1989" tour topped Pollstar's annual ranking of the most popular concert attractions globally.
They haven't even finished their Rock Or Bust world tour yet, but the travelling spectacle has seen Aussie rockers AC/DC sell more tickets to their live shows than any other touring act in 2015. The list was ranked by profit, so AC/DC came in second to pop star Taylor Swift, who had higher priced tickets and grossed $250.4 million but sold approximately 40,000 fewer tickets.
Kevin Hart's comedy tour was a white-hot success, grossing $82.2 million and coming in at No.12.
The rest of the Top 20 spots went to musicians.
According to Pollstar, the top 20 tours made more than $2.2 billion dollars combined and sold over 24 million tickets.
Elsewhere on the list, the Foo Fighters grossed $127 million with 1,682,053 tickets sold, followed by Fleetwood Mac, which grossed $125 million with 995,939 tickets sold.
