Allentown police spent hours before dawn Friday searching for a five-year-old autistic boy on the city's east side.

The party was on East Union Street, but the boy was last seen at Aubrey and South streets, police said. He is Latino and was wearing sweatpants and a green and camouflage long-sleeve shirt, but no shoes, socks or jacket, police Capt. Tony Alsleben said.

He still had not been found by 9 a.m. Friday.

Anyone coming in contact with him should keep him in sight and notify 911 immediately.

A state police helicopter has been assisting with the search. Residents are asked to check sheds, basement doors or other areas where the boy make have taken refuge overnight.

Residents who spot the child also can the Allentown Communications Center at 610-437-7751 with any information.
