The project hails from director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) and British playwright/screenwriter Peter Morgan, who has examined Queen Elizabeth's life twice before, with the 2006 period drama The Queen and the 2015 theater production The Audience, both of which starred Helen Mirren as Elizabeth II.

Now Claire Foy and Matt Smith are set to play Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in the first 10 episodes of The Crown.
This is going to be fantastic and I can't wait to see it. There's no release date yet but I would guess this spring or summer.
