Charred Body Found on Northern Illinois University Campus

Arnold White | 31 December, 2015, 23:51

The charred remains found on Northern Illinois University property were those of a Bolingbrook man who had been accepted at the college past year.

A receptionist said DeKalb County Coroner Dennis Miller was not available Thursday morning but that the office would release a statement.

Gill was a former student of the university, according to the university official.

No foul play is suspected in the death.

The coroner says Gill's cause of death is pending forensic testing, but NIU spokesman Brad Hoey says Gill's death appears to have been a suicide.

Hoey says university officials are "deeply saddened" by Gill's death and offer their condolences to his friends and family. NIU police and the coroner's office are continuing to investigate.
