Former Czech worldwide goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek of Newcastle United fame died Tuesday following a heart attack he had suffered while out jogging last week, his agent said. "Despite the best medical attention the final brain scans Monday showed irreversible damage and the decision had to be taken to switch off the life support machine".
Former Newcastle goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek's funeral will take place in the Czech Republic on Monday.
The former Czech Republic global, who won 49 caps for his country, had been in an induced coma since suffering a cardiac arrest while out running in his home town of Ostrava before Christmas.
Funeral services, to which friends and colleagues are invited, will be at the Ostrava Vitkovice house of mourning.
Srnicek became a big favourite with Newcastle fans during his first spell at St James' Park between 1991 and 1998.
