It happened outside Tottenham Hale shopping centre at about 7.45pm.

Anti-Semites pelted three Orthodox Jews shoppers in London with gas canisters, shouting "Hitler is on the way to you" and "Heil Hitler", London's Evening Standard newspaper reported Thursday.

The suspect presented himself to a north London police station and remains in custody, the force said.

Jewish neighbourhood watch group Shomrim said they had been contacted by one of the victims who claimed a man in the truck also shouted "Heil Hitler", according to reports. Although none of the victims was injured, all were "badly shaken", said Shomrim.

Jonathan Sacerdoti, Director of Communications at the Campaign Against Antisemitism, said: 'This disturbing incident is a reminder of the abuse that many Jewish people experience all too often. "I encourage anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have experienced a similar incident to report it", he added.

Shomrim volunteer Michael Blayer said: "This conduct is shocking, the casualties were pure customers at the Tottenham Hale retail stop, and they were focused on in light of the fact that they were unmistakably Jewish. Shomrim are supporting the victims".

The incident, which allegedly took place on Wednesday at 19:45 GMT at Tottenham Hale Retail Park, has been reported to the Metropolitan Police.
