Boston native Mike Condon stopped 27 shots to lead the Canadiens to a 5-1 victory over the Bruins on Friday in the Winter Classic at the home of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
This year's edition, to be played at Gillette Stadium with a 1 p.m. puck drop, features the Boston Bruins against the Montreal Canadiens, and, well, come on: These two teams could play in the back room of the Narragansett brewery down in Providence, Rhode Island, and there would be a ton of interest.
"Yeah, Bruins, Habs, Gillette Stadium, New Year's Day, I don't think you could script it any better", Condon said of the game he labelled the most special one of his life.

If you are a Canadiens fan and were watching the NHL's Winter Classic on television you might have wished you were there. He was born in MA, supporting the Bruins and Patriots and found himself on the opposite team, playing a blinder of a game.
Having this Winter Classic on the schedule seemed to expedite the healing process for Gallagher's fractured fingers. Rask took a shot off the shoulder midway through the third period and needed medical attention, but he remained in the game....

Since the first was held in Buffalo in 2008, the league has expanded it's outdoor regular-season schedule with the "Stadium Series" of games and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said this week the league plans to continue them. Everyone's favorite Bruins fan watched the game from the front row and even handed out one of his signature fist bumps to B's owner Jeremy Jacobs.
